A virtual trip to Krakow

Since during the past weeks and months we could not travel or meet properly, we took the opportunity of modern advances in technology and met online. And not just that. Together we visited a social project run by the Polish Capuchins from Krakow. Dzieło Pomocy św. Ojca Pio (Project of Help of St. Father Pio). Since 1999 dozens of employees and volunteers have been helping the homeless, of which almost 2,000 a year come here. It is not just a distribution of food or clothing, the offer of showers or washing machines, but especially help in various areas from social, through health to spiritual.

Mrs. Jolanta Kaczmarczyk led us through this wonderful project, introduced us to its history and mission and showed us what can be done for others when there is willingness, will and desire to serve. And the generosity of the people. But of course, nothing can be done in one day, everything needs its time, patience and perseverance. This is also an encouragement for us on the way in our project DOMA 😊.

"It is a great encouragement for me to see that Mrs. Jola, who has been in the service of helping people for more than 17 years, spoke so passionately about this service. Altough I was in 2017, when visiting Dzieło Pomocy św. Ojca Pio, in astonishment over the sophisticated system of help for homeless people, then even today I am grateful to have been able to experience this feeling of wonder again. Deep respect and honor to Jola and to all those who are involved with their hands and heart in such a great project!" Volunteer Majka Magurová

We are glad that more than thirty of us - from among of our volunteers, friends and guests - were able to meet in this way and listen to Mrs. Jola's passionate talking. We thank her sincerely for her willingness and time, as well as to sister Anežka for her dedicated interpretation and to volunteer Majka for her idea and organization of the whole event.
